You know what's wrong with games these days? You have to pay. So I'm going to fix this terrible, terrible atrocity by linking you to the five greatest free games out on the net.
Everyone needs a game to play! When you're bored and not feeling like accomplishing anything productive, what else is there but playing a video game or blogging about video games?
>>Sonic Robo Blast 2<<SRB2 is a timeless classic. This 3D Sonic game packs in everything you could want from the little hedgehog, and then some. The best thing, the game is fully modifiable. Players can make their own levels and characters, and considering this game has held an active community for the past 10 years, there is an endless amount of content to play through! This game makes me proud to own a Sonic sweatband. Very proud.
>>Iji<<I'm not sure if anyone knows how to actually pronounce this game, but that doesn't make it any less impressive. Iji is an action/adventure game that takes place after earth is destroyed by a mysterious alien force. The story gets off to a slow start, but quickly picks up. A final note, Iji features some of the best bosses I've ever seen! Play this game even if only for the last boss!
>>Tales of Game's Presents Chef Boyardee's Barkley, Shut Up and Jam: Gaiden, Chapter 1 of the Hoopz Barkley SaGa<<Simply put, this game never stops being impressive. Wikipedia states, "Charles Barkley, in an attempt to impress his son Hoopz Barkley, performs a Chaos Dunk -- and inadvertently kills almost everyone present. As a result, basketball was made illegal and nearly all great players were killed in "The Great B-Ball Purge of 2041" (a.k.a "B-Ballnacht")." And that's just the introduction! This game is a B-Ball themed rpg, featuring a reflex/timing based battle system.
>>Cave Story<<This is the most popular and highest rated freeware game available. They're even remaking it for the Nintendo Wii! Cave Story is a sidescrolling adventure game similar to Metriod, including several different ways to play through. This game was originally in Japanese, but later fan-translated to English.
>>Immortal Defense<<Yeah, okay, this isn't free. But the demo is free, so I'm putting Immortal Defense up here. This is one of my all time favorite games, a brilliant mix of game design and storytelling. It's a simple tower defense game in which you try to kill monsters before they reach the end of a line. What really sticks with the player after the game is done is the storyline. You just have to play to see for yourself!
